| HISTORY OF FAITH BAPTIST CHURCH |
| |
Faith Baptist Church held its first service
on December 3, 1999 in a machine shop in Carthage, NC with
Tony Connor as the pastor. There were 17 people present and
the name for the church was voted on with a unanimous
decision.
After visiting the Juniper Grange building on Carthage Road in
West End, the church made a decision to rent the property to
start holding church there. We held our first service in that
location December 15, 1999, with 31 attendees. On January 9, 2000 we became officially
organized as a church.
As the Lord added to the church, it became apparent that more
room was needed. Approximately eight acres beside of the
Grange became available, so the church purchased the land.
After voting on a church floor plan and receiving bids from
several contractors, the church voted to have Mark Stewart of
Stewart Construction as the contractor. A ground breaking
service was held on
December 15, 2002. We held our first service in the new
sanctuary on June 29, 2003. God has continued to bless and add to our
church. We have just voted to start building a new sanctuary
that will seat 225 and more classroom space.
